The Serbian National Register of Internet Domain Names (RNIDS) announced today that registration fees for .rs domain names have been cut by 10% with the hope that registrars will pass the savings on to customers.
The goal of the price cut is to promote use of the domain as well as to help owners of .yu domains, which will permanently expire on September 30, transition to the domain extension.
The current registrar price for .rs domains are as follows:
- .rs: £14.12 (1,350 RSD)
- co.rs, org.rs and edu.rs: £4.71 (450 RSD)
- in.rs: £2.61 (250 RSD)
China has used a similar pricing strategy over the last several years to encourage growth of the .cn domain.
RNIDS also just started a 3-month campaign that charges participating registrars only £1.72 (150 RSD) for .in.rs domains.
