Lately, three types of hosting have been covered here: shared, VPS, and dedicated. If you’re in the market for a host, chances are good you might have seen something called reseller hosting advertised. Just what is it?
Reseller hosting is a type of shared hosting that enables the customer to sell web space to other users. It’s not nearly as complicated as renting a server and setting up your own host, though you will be more limited in how many customers you can take on. Think about it like buying a large house and renting out a few rooms versus building a hotel.
Many people buy reseller hosting just for themselves because of the extra bandwidth and storage it provides. Generally the price is greater than shared hosting, but less than a VPS. Because of the predominance of VPS’s, however, reseller hosting is becoming less and less popular.
