Many dedicated hosts offer server management options of their own, but what if you want to rent an unmanaged server and employ the services of a friend or other third party to manage the server?
There are many server management firms out there that can do everything your host does and more for a lower price. While paying a third party to manage may not be cheaper in all cases, it often is and you can find someone who specializes in your type of site.
Run a network of proxies? Hire someone who specializes in proxies. Need an admin with experience load balancing servers for a forum? It might be better to trust a third party with expertise in this area rather than your host’s support team, which will probably be better suited for handling more mainstream tasks.
Before signing up for a managed host, shop around and see if hiring a third party for your system administration tasks is a better option.
