EZMoney.com sells for £13,411

british pound notes
Last week, EZMoney.com sold for £13,411 ($22,000 USD at auction). Finance and loan-related domains have traditionally always demanded a premium at marketplace, but the fact this name sold for the price of a new car is surprising considering it’s trademarked.

This site claims ownership of the trademark “EZMoney.” A quick search through the U.S. Trademark Office’s database, however, shows that it is registered to a Las Vegas casino.

Regardless of who owns the trademark, you should never buy a trademarked name. The buyer just spent £13,411 on a domain, and because the term is trademarked, could lose it through a simple WIPO dispute or legal proceedings. Before registering a domain or bidding in an auction, do a quick search to ensure your name isn’t filed as trademark.
