Software.com sells for unknown amount

An anonymous buyer has picked up Software.com from domainer Mike Mann for an unknown amount. The name originally sold in 2005 for $3.2 million USD.

Given the 2005 sale price, my guess is the domain sold for at least $4 million– probably much more. A more accurate figure is probably $5-$6 million. It is highly unlikely that the price was anywhere near Insure.com’s $16 million, however.

Regardless of the sale price, Software.com is an excellent domain investment.
